Component of the exocyst complex involved in the docking of exocytic vesicles with fusion sites on the plasma membrane.
Midbody>Midbody ring.
Note: Recruitment to the midbody does not require RALA, nor RALB (PubMed:18756269). Colocalizes with CNTRL/centriolin at the midbody ring (PubMed:16213214).
Widely expressed with highest levels in brain and placenta.
The exocyst complex is composed of EXOC1, EXOC2, EXOC3, EXOC4, EXOC5, EXOC6, EXOC7 and EXOC8 (By similarity). Interacts with EXOC3L1 (By similarity). Interacts with GNEFR/DELGEF; this interaction occurs only in the presence of magnesium or manganese and is stimulated by dCTP or GTP. Interacts with RALA and RALB.
Interacts with RALA through the TIG domain.
Belongs to the SEC5 family.
